Coaching and mentoring services are unique to every client and, to be effective, should be tailored to the needs of the individual and the business.

Coaching and mentoring have many similarities but also several key differences:

Coaching is not generally performed on the basis that the coach has direct experience of their client's job role unless the coaching is specific and skills focused.

Mentoring, particularly in its traditional sense, enables an individual to learn from or follow a more senior or experienced colleague who can pass on knowledge, experience and provide insight to new areas.

It is easy to get confused about the differences between coaching and mentoring. The purpose and expected outcome of each is distinctly different; although at times, some overlap exists. For example, coaching, which provides specific feedback, can be used within mentoring. Mentoring is more holistic than coaching in that it develops the whole individual through guidance, coaching and development opportunities. Mentoring, is far more personal and friendship-based, offering non-judgmental support as a positive role model and focusing on a mentee's longer term personal development. The mentor makes suggestions. The relationship is neither formally evaluated nor connected to job advancement but rather to personal improvement.

COACHING:
Top sports people in general would not consider aiming for the top of their field without working with a coach. Why? They need independent feedback and advice, support on the psychology of winning and someone to bring out the best in their performance. Increasingly, top executives and their organizations are coming to the same conclusion. In the past, coaches were brought in to help executives 'in distress'; now coaches are brought in to enhance the performance of already successful executives.

The world in which top executives work is increasingly challenging, arguably more so than at any time in the past. Tight deadlines, information overload, high expectations from above, from peers and direct reports, navigating matrix management and multiple time zones are just a few of the practical challenges. If there is a major project, significant change, a new challenge, a new role or a new reporting structure then the challenges are even greater and a coach can prove invaluable.

At the same time, family and friends still look for quality time with business men and women and executives need to balance these competing priorities if they are to stay happily at the top of their game.

  • We create a three way contract between the coachee, the business and Dawn HR Solutions. We also explore the impact of other stakeholders who may not be part of the formal process. Complete transparency in this process facilitates honest, helpful feedback.
  • We focus on producing measurable results, for the individual and the business. We strive to understand what success will look like for both parties and we encourage them to capture these aspirations in agreed goals that we monitor throughout the process. These goals are always 'front of mind'.
Our coaching process is simple and its process is consists 6 INGS - Listening, Agreeing, Designing, Delivering, Embedding and Reviewing.

The summary does not seek to detail the discussions of each meeting, or breach confidentiality, but revisits the original goals and highlights progress achieved and areas of ongoing focus.

We can also work with you to design and articulate programme's that embed coaching as a central management tool; one which empowers employees to align their efforts towards the organization's wider goals and underpins enhanced performance.


MENTORING:
Dawn HR Solutions beleives that mentoring has a key role to play within organisations who wish to retain and develop their talent. Our mentoring service can be readily tailored to meet the specific needs of your organisation, whether you wish to focus on specific individuals, teams or the organisation as a whole.

Individuals - if you have specific individuals who require an external mentor, we can provide highly experienced individuals with wide ranging experience across a range of industries and disciplines.

Teams - if you have specific teams that would benefit from group mentoring, we will work with you to ensure that goals are met. Whether the team would simply benefit from working more effectively together or whether they are facing a specific challenge and would benefit from some expert guidance, we can provide outstanding mentors from amongst our Associates.

Organisation - if you are looking to set up a companywide mentoring programme, we can partner with you to achieve this objective.
